My advice for the proof of concept (POC):
Clear boundaries – Both sides need to know what the goal is
State your point – Find a pain point, solve the problem and measure it to prove you have fulfilled the goal
Again – Measure it! This helps you in price negotiations
Last but not least – Never do it for free!
